END OF THE PROJECT
OPEN project came to the end. Its final day is 31st of December 2015.
Project coordinator and partners would like to thank all of you that made its realization possible and supported activities during more than two years. Evaluation of the piloting session and final conference showed that this project was successful and that there is a big need when it comes to educational materials for Deaf people. Project partners are motivated to cooperate in the future. If you are interested as well, please contact your local organization.

Final conference organized with cooperation of Italian Deaf Association took place on 18th of December 2015. The aim of the conference was to present the project and its final result to the larger, international audience. Conference was multilingual, translation was provided (English-Italian Sign Language and English-Polish). Italians, Spanish, Swedish and Polish representatives were present. Audience reacted lively and asked several questions. WP2 researcher, Kate Groves, was present on-line, participants could ask her questions on Skype and she replied with pleasure. Consortium was very happy to finalize the project with so much success.
FINAL PARTNERS MEETING AND FINAL CONFERENCE
This week (16-19.12.2015) last partners meeting will take place in Rome, in Italy. Partners will evaluate piloting sessions and will talk about last activities that have to be done before the end of the project (31.12.2015). On Friday 18.12.2015, there will be a final conference organized with cooperation of Italian Deaf Association. For any additional information please contact your local organization.
JOIN OUR LOCAL SEMINARS, THEMATIC WORKSHOPS AND PILOT SESSIONS
At the end of summer holidays partners will start to organize local seminars and thematic workshops that are meant to promote the project and inform all interested parties about its aims, objectives, conducted activities and planned results. During this meetings partners will also look for parties interested in pilot sessions that will take place in September and October 2015. If your organization is interested in participating in local seminars, thematic workshops and/or pilot sessions please contact directly your local organization.
E-learning platform is being continuously developed.
The content of the course as well as video recording have been finalized. Most of the material from Swedish, Polish and Spanish Sign languages has been uploaded to the platform: www.openleonardo.com. You can now enter the platform and follow the course needed. In the very near future platform will be updated with Greek and Italian sign languages. The platform is still under construction so any feedback is more than welcome.
FOURTH MEETING IN CYPRUS
Hosted by SYNTHESIS, the fourth meeting of the project “OPEN Learning to Sign Language” took place on June 15th and 16th at the Home for Cooperation in Nicosia, Cyprus. Partners from Cyprus, Italy, Poland and Sweden planned the next steps for the development and pilot testing of the learning platform. All partners have done their video recordings and are currently working on their subtitling and platform’s technical functions. On July, first pilot testing will take place in all partners’ countries. Feedback will be provided by people with hearing impairments and further improvements on the platform will be applied. Be ready to participate soon in the piloting workshops!
THIRD PARTNERS MEETING IN BERGAMO (ITALY)
January and February were hard working months for OPEN partnership as OPEN e-learning is being developed.
Some partners started already to record the training material in their countries. The aim is to finish the recording until 15th of March.
On 16th and 17th of March partners meeting will be held in Bergamo, Italy. Fondazione IKAROS will host project partners.
During the meeting partners will discuss the recording process in their countries and share their experience.
Another points that will be analysed are the next steps in project realization.
INTENSIVE WORK ON MULTI-LANGUAGE PLATFORM
Starting from November 2014 intensive work on multi-language platform is being performed. Script of the dialogues was prepared, partners selected the specialists in their national sign languages that would be involved in video recording in February/March 2015. First test version should be ready in spring 2015, partners will check it and since summer 2015 product should be tested in all partner countries.

SECOND PARTNERS MEETING IN SZCZECIN (POLAND)
After several months partners meet again in Szczecin. Partnership was changed as one partner decided to leave consortium. All formal changes took quite a lot of time and some activities had to be suspended and/or postponed. Meeting in Szczecin took place on 4-5th of November. A lot of constructive work was done and decisions were taken. New partner, Amber International, was present and made other partners familiar with prepared material for the main result of the project: multi-language platform. Tasks were redistributed and first test version should be ready in spring 2015.
FIRST PARTNERS MEETING IN ESTEPA (SPAIN)
Partners of the project meet in person in Estepa, well known for its production of Christmas-time sweets. The meeting was held on 17-18th of December. At the beginning of the meeting partners had possibility to present their institutions and the project to the local authorities. Afterwards, consortium turned to intensive work on the project. Firstly, coordinator, Asociación de Desarrollo Rural Estepa Sierra Sur, presented the main idea of the project, the activities to be done and the role of each partner. Secondly, partners presented their organisations and short discussion about sign language in each country took place. Finally, partners discussed activities to be done in details as well as all administrative and financial aspects of the project.
